A desk color may be your only shot at decorating an office. Your room may have just recently been painted or you want walls that aren’t too in your face. You might even be prohibited from fixing up your space in an office building or apartment. The office furniture is your chance to show off your personality and working style so don’t take it lightly. It may be the only way to decorate your space, so make sure that you choose a desk that will help you get where you want to be.
Modular office furniture allows you to make the most of your space. This can be used in a home office or a boardroom. Look for gender neutral colors instead of arguing with your coworkers that purple is manly or the color of royalty. Go with more neutral colors that will have mass appeal. Medium tones may hold up better to stains. Lighter colors will give the office an appearance of more space which is especially important if your office desk has a large L-shape or hutch that dominates the room. Spice up cubicles with turquoise, orange or chocolate brown. Sure, they are still cubicles but at least they won’t be boring.
Desk workstations often come in faux wood grain. This may seem like it’s the only option available, or its tradition right? It’s just an office desk after all. Faux wood grain often looks cheap. If you decide to go these routes look for a high end faux cherry wood instead of the usual oak laminate. Other desk color options such as a plain black or white laminate have a modern feeling to them for the same price or even less money. The solid color will give you more decorating options and you’ll be able to take your home office in other decorating directions.
Reception office furniture is the first impression that your clients have of your company. They can judge how you are doing and how you treat your employees in just a few seconds. Look for a high end frosted glass and stainless steel reception desk that gives the appearance that your company is on the cutting edge. Update the reception furniture to leather pieces that will stand the test of time and can easily be cleaned.
A color computer desk is an easy and inexpensive way to spice up an office. This may be as simple as heading to the thrift store and picking up a Queen Anne style piece that needs a little help. Paint it a bright pink or lime green for an office transformation that just costs a few dollars. Shop for colored office furniture around back to school time. You may be able to find a red, orange, or corrugated metal desk inexpensively. Even if it’s meant for a dorm room it can still look chic.
