Paint Color Scheme

A paint color scheme ties the room together. Instead of just picking colors that you like it’s necessary to consider all of the surroundings. You may just see your room as a blank slate when you’ll need to work with the colors of simple things like heating vents or more expensive flooring fixes.
Start a paint scheme design by getting a fresh look at your room. Post pictures on decorating forums or interior design sites. The users will be only too happy to tell you what the biggest problem areas in your space are. Take pictures of your room so you can get a more objective look at it. You may even be able to put your space in a paint program, mask off the areas you want to change and then play around with color.
There are several considerations when choosing a house paint scheme. The first one is that you want to get the colors right the first time because painting a house isn’t cheap or fun. You’ll need to pick a color for trim, a different color for shutters and the front door if you want them to stand out and a main house color. Again consider the items that are already there such as the roof, chimney and walkway. You’ll also need to look at the surrounding nature and your neighbor’s houses. Your home can still be different but you probably want it to be the best house on the block instead of an eyesore.
Colors can create a theme, like using paint for a NASCAR paint scheme. Try black and white to simulate a checkered flag or pull the color from your favorite car. The NASCAR symbol has white, yellow, red, blue and even magenta in it. (Good luck convincing your husband or son that magenta is the perfect color for his sport’s themed room. I can’t even help you there.)
When picking out a decorating color palette ask yourself “Would I wear this?” Often fashion shows influence the colors on design accessories and furniture. Plus, you’ll be in the room so the colors will effect how your skin tone looks.
If choosing a paint color palette just doesn’t seem fun let someone else do it for you. Look to paintings, those guys have had to assemble color schemes for years. Sometimes the eye just sees the most dominant color, thinking “That painting is yellow”. While there is yellow in it there are also probably varying shades of gold, taupe and brown. Use the secondary colors as the main colors in the room and let the more vibrant tones stay in the artwork.
